It’s been a hectic couple of weeks. I seem to have been caught up in a whirlwind of work, eat, sleep, repeat, but without enough of the sleep. This weekend I finally got to relax and enjoy some simple pleasures, mostly focusing around food and friends (the best type).
Friday I joined friends at a local pasta house for a tasty meal, followed by a few too many drinks in near-by bar. A friend has just quit her job to retrain as a nurse and we all had a great time celebrating.
Saturday I headed into the city with my boyfriend for some shopping, and stumbled across a Mediterranean food fair. After scoffing a meze of dolmades, feta stuffed peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh bread and cheese, I couldn’t resist purchasing a few bites of baklava for later. Baklava is one of my favourite sweet desserts – a little piece of heaven!
Sunday, a friend popped over for a brew and long overdue gossip. The rest of the afternoon was spent curled on the sofa with a good book, followed by pizza and silly movies. Before I knew it Monday came back around, with lots of salad and water to flush out the overindulgence of the weekend! Sometimes, it’s the simple things that make your time away from commitments precious.
How was your weekend?
